The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival offers a variety of events including: full length performances, workshops and panels, and celebrity talks!

LIVE PERFORMANCES…

We search the globe to create the BEST and most DIVERSE line-up possible for an exciting theatrical event!  Whether you’re a fan of August Wilson, Tyler Perry or Shakespeare, there’s something good for you at the ABTF.  We attract thousands of theatre lovers from around the world seeking cutting-edge, original works representing all genres of theatre.

SHOPPING….

Visit our international vendors market for a unique selection of fine and wearable art.  This is not your typical retail experience.  These vendors come by “invitation only”, are screened and must meet our high standards for quality, variety, and creativity.

READER’S THEATRE SERIES…

This popular event has morphed into a “mini-festival” featuring emerging and seasoned playwrights for a marathon of reading of original works.  Audiences love to engage actors and authors to dissect meaning and interpret purpose from the minds of some of the most prolific wordsmiths of our time.

WORKSHOPS…

We offer a wide variety of educational workshops, speakers and professional development sessions for engaging social enrichment or skill enhancement.  Witness our vigorously debated symposium panelists, artist workshops, and speaker series.  Additionally, the performance talk-backs are highly entertaining yet, they speak to the issues that face our communities.

A CELEBRATION…

Nightly parties and kickbacks offer unique networking opportunities for one of the largest gathering of game-changers in the performing arts arena.

Yes! There’s a HUGE celebration of the arts in Atlanta! Join us every year on Indigenous Peoples’ (Columbus) Day weekend at the festival of 40 plays in 4 days.  It’s a performing arts marathon consisting of over 200 artists representing 18 states and 3 countries.  We promise–this is like no other cultural experience!
