Tucker Art Festival Brings Community and Local Artists Together

Tucker, GA – Representing Tucker’s most creative and artistic individuals, the First Annual Art Festival, ARTucker, will be held on May 29 – 30, 2015 at the Tucker Recreation Center, which, for a couple of days will be transformed into a colorful gallery for the imagination. The marketplace is open to the public, free of charge, and the community is invited to view and purchase works from local artists.

Over two dozen local artists will feature their creations, including handweavers, potters, wood turners, painters, photographers, glass blowers and more. Guests will also be able to observe pottery demonstrations.

Host of the event, Patty Young says she has often desired for Tucker to have a marketplace for local artists. “This is a passion,” she says, “and the goal is to celebrate local artists. The community building is really what this is about for me. It’s linking us all together.”

Local watercolor artist, Deborah Clowers is excited to be joining the event with a booth. She says she is excited about “being a part of something artistic in the community. Beauty lifts us up out of the mundane.” She emphasizes that “celebrating beauty and community together brings us to the best within ourselves.”

Both artists believe this event meets a need in the Tucker area for an awareness and connectivity of local artists, as well as a place for the artists to display their works. It also provides an interactive cultural and learning experience for the community. “Who knows what this event will grow into?” says Patty. “The intention is that it becomes an annual event and, hopefully, an important part of Tucker’s yearly calendar of events. I’m open and excited to see what will happen from here.”

The event will be held Friday, May 29 from 5 – 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 30 from
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, contact artuckerga@yahoo.com.
